'Subterrainia' is a specially-created album of ambient music, based on an imagined journey to the centre of the Earth.

Loved Ones were approached by Everisland, event promoters in Liverpool, to create a track to soundtrack 'Subterrainia', one of four evenings of themed music based on the elements - wind, water, earth and fire.

The band decided to expand the project out into a full album, and created a generic narrative to construct song structures around.

A group of adventurers meet with the objective of journeying down as far as physically possible into the Earth's core. On the way they encounter caverns walled in solid diamond, oily underwater lakes and the terrifying descent into a seemingly bottomless void, eventually reaching the border of the mantle itself. ... more
